Event Details

tanchazMaster dance teacher Gábor Simon from Hungary will lead teaching circles of dances from Hungary and Transylvania in this evening of fun, fast-paced dancing with live music. No partner necessary and all levels of dance background are welcome.

Gábor Simon is a native of Kalocsa, Hungary working as a visiting artist with the Eszterlánc Hungarian Folk Ensemble in San Fransisco. Gábor holds two degrees in Hungarian folk dance instruction, from the Hungarian Dance Academy in Budapest, and also from the Eötvös József Teacher Training College, Faculty of Pedagogy in Baja, Hungary. In addition to serving as Artistic director and choreographer of the Göröm (Kalocsa) and Danubia (Baja) ensembles Gabor has danced in numerous groups as a professional and toured with the production of “Csárdás: the Tango of the East,” in 1998.

Guest musicians FORRAS BAND from Vancouver, Canada, and
Seattle, Washington, feature the renowned lead violinist Lászlo Orbán,
formerly of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble.
